Living Room and Foyer Refreshed

A fresh new look is what this living room and foyer were in desperate need of...and that is just what this beautiful century home got!

Take a look...

The Living Room:

Fresh new paint on the walls lighten everything up transforming the room immediately.  A gorgeous turfed velvet sofa in a bright peacock color is just the pop of color my client wanted. It pairs well with the barrel back chairs that flank the stately fireplace. The back of chairs boast a bold wooden design that mimics the hull of a ship, and the antique gold railheads add even more detail.  The windows feel lighter, brighter and softer with the new linen curtain panels and the large paneled mirror in an antique gold finish reflects the beauty of the room.  The entire space is anchored by the size, weight and rich colors of the refurbished antique Asian rug...simply gorgeous.  The true show stopper in the room is the larger than life commissioned piece of art above the fireplace.

Rug: purchased from www.esalerugs.com  which refurbishes antique Asian rugs from around the world.

Peacock blue & gold cocktail set: belonged to client's mother from 1960’s helps tell the client's story.

My client's only request to the artist was to have a bluish/peacock color in the piece of art---look closely and you can see that the artist fulfilled her wish ever so slightly and she absolutely LOVES it.

Painting over hearth: Artist is Peter Manion and it’s a commissioned piece called Em.  Contemporary Oil painting inspired by Theodore Gericault’s Raft of the Medusa. His website is www.petermanion.com

The Foyer was refreshed, as well.  Three of the walls now have a metallic grasscloth wallpaper adding texture, interest, and a shimmer to the entryway.  We kept the original crystal chandelier...the wallpaper and the chandelier really play well off of each other. The staircase feels lighter and brighter, too, with a fresh coat of white paint to the risers and the spindles...what a difference!  We added a few decorative pieces to the radiator cover, including a ginger jar accented in the peacock color that marries the foyer to the living room.

The Foyer:
